A letter from the Executive Director
What can you do? 
When people see what Habitat for Humanity Newark does for hard working, low income families, they often ask me one question: What can I do to help? The answers to that question are as varied as our volunteers.
• Provide Financial Support. There’s no getting around the fact that it takes cash to build homes. We appreciate all the individuals, foundations, religious groups, businesses and organizations that make our programs possible with their financial support. We encourage everybody to donate according to their means. You can CLICK HERE to make a donation today.
• Become a Construction Volunteer. It takes a steady stream of volunteers to help our construction crews build houses. You can CLICK HERE to learn more about this effort.
You can also make a difference by joining one or more of our committees:
- Family Support Committee. As you can see in the story to the left, joining the Family Support Committee provides a wonderful opportunity to help our Partner Families fulfill their obligations and get established in their new homes. Your knowledge of home ownership is valuable; share it with these new homeowners.
- Family Selection Committee. As our number of houses grows, so does the demand for potential Partner Families. You can help the Family Selection Committee find the right people to fill these slots.
- Marketing/PR Committee. We can always use more help on our Marketing/PR Committee. Right now, we could use some expert advice from someone with Salesforce.com experience to get maximum benefit from our mailing lists.
- Women Build and Abraham House Committees. These two special groups raise funds and build houses for their individual causes. You can learn more about both at our website, www.habitatnewark.org.
- Faith Relations Committee. This committee works with churches, mosques, synagogues and many other religious organizations in this area.
- Other Committees. Many groups could use your help. These include the Development Committee, the Finance Committee and the Land Acquisition Committee. For a full list of committees, please CLICK HERE.
