A message from the
Executive Director
David Zurheide
| |
If anything can make us
thankful for a roof over our heads and appreciate the security and
warmth of our homes, it's a winter like this one! And come this time
next year, Sylvia Loperena and her three children will know what that
feels like. The Loperenas will soon be the proud owners of a
Habitat-built house in the West Ward Redevelopment Area of Newark. The
property was acquired from the city of Newark, and we're hoping it will
be dedicated in March.
As you can see, momentum
for Habitat Newark's goal of 11 in '11 is just beginning. Habitat
Newark has newly-selected partner families. Habitat Newark has land.
Habitat Newark even has permits in hand. But what we now need are house
sponsorships to help keep the momentum moving.
The
benefits of house sponsorships for companies, organizations, and even
individuals are plentiful. Sponsorships can provide a hands-on, team
building experience for the organizations that provide funding.
Certainly the biggest benefit is simply helping a deserving family
realize a dream of home ownership. How many other non-profits produce
such a wonderful and tangible end product for families in need? I would
love the opportunity to talk with anyone who might be interested in any
level of house sponsorship to help make those dreams happen for more of
our partner families.
