"Mister" Willie Celebrates 70

Measure twice, cut or bend once. Willie Clark helps Ed Espinoza, a member of the Carpenter's Club who works most Wednesdays, measure a piece of siding so that everything is perfect


Mr. Willie Clark is one of the icons at Habitat Newark where he has worked with thousands of volunteers and helped build many of the 70+ homes. He has done a lot more than just build the homes, and has touched the lives of many in a positive, meaningful way.

Donate Your Car 

Cars for Homes Volunteers Tour and Build in Garden State

Volunteers from all over the country toured the Garden State and while they were at it helped build homes for low income families of the four Habitat affiliates in North Jersey. Their purpose was to raise awareness of the Cars for Homes program. If you have a car you can donate, the local affiliates will benefit from your generosity and you will get a tax break!

Women/Lowes Build in West Orange  

 Habitat Female Volunteers Enjoy Women Build Day

To celebrate National Women Build Week, Department of Community Affairs Commissioner Lori Grifa worked on a new home for two Habitat for Humanity Newark partner families in West Orange

 

More than 30 female volunteers were joined by Lori Grifa, NJ Department of Community Affairs Commissioner, to work on the Habitat House under construction in West Orange and to celebrate National Women Build Day. The Annual Event, co sponsored by Lowes, saluted the critical role women plan in Habitat for Humanity.

The Chamber of Commerce group saluted Habitat for Humanity Newark for the contribution it is making with the goal of building 11 homes in 2011 for hard working low income families in Essex County New Jersey.

One needs only to scan the headlines of this month's Toolbox to see the hard work that's going on both in front of and behind the scenes at Habitat Newark. Volunteers, staff and sponsors alike keep coming together to move Habitat forward in our mission.

 

The ground breaking for Abraham House II in Irvington was held on May 4th and the enthusiasm was palpable. TD Ameritrade corporate executives and employees were on hand, as well as representatives of the law firm of LeClair Ryan, to help celebrate what their partial sponsorship helped to get underway. Mayor Wayne Smith stopped by to lend municipal support. A lucky hardworking family will soon live on a nice tree shaded street in Irvington in a house they have helped build and will own.
