Pope Francis House

Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark

Habitat for Humanity Newark will be constructing a house in the West Ward in Newark to honor Pope Francis, as part of a generous, anonymous donation.

Habitat for Humanity’s mission is rooted in faith-based principles of compassion and service to our community. Houses of faith are some of the most important contributors to our work. Locally, Habitat for Humanity Newark welcomes congregations of all faiths to partner with us in building safe, decent, affordable housing for all people. Our faith-based initiatives are growing, and we welcome all local houses of faith to consider taking a stake in the mission for affordable housing in Essex County. The opportunities for partnership are comprehensive—from volunteering with your faith-based group, to sponsoring construction, to hosting a wall build at your house of worship.

The Three Tenets of the Pope Francis House include:

  • To honor Pope Francis for his commitment to social justice & reinvigorating the Catholic Church
  • To provide a unifying, celebratory opportunity for both Catholic and non-Catholic volunteers to work towards a common goal (as Pope Francis says, ‘Work confers dignity’)
  • And to further Habitat’s mission of building and preserving homes.

Please contact Brittany at (973) 824-3330 x101 or bwinston@habitatnewark.org and learn how we need your partnership to help our mission.
