Thank you for your insightful presentation on leading a non-profit organization. Throughout your seminar it was very clear that passion plays a huge role in success at times as your dedication is expressed through your passion for being there for your team. I found it extremely inspiring how your management style is to be a human Home Depot for your employees to utilize, it showed me how a good manager thinks and how they expect their team to utilize them. Your presentation also enlightened me on how Habitat for Humanity works and what their ultimate goal is. Prior to your seminar I wasn’t as familiar with Habitat for Humanity and how they operated, but through your presentation I found myself wanting to get more involved. With gratitude and appreciation, thank you for your time and expertise. Warmest regards,
– Meigan Lupack
Thank you for your inspiring presentation about leadership, service, and community impact. I really admired your emphasis on listening, grit, and giving back through meaningful work. Your message showed that intelligence alone is not enough character, consistency, and compassion matter just as much. I especially enjoyed hearing about the work Habitat for Humanity is doing to strengthen communities and help families. Your presentation reminded me how important it is to use leadership to create positive change for others. Thank you again for taking the time to speak with us and share your experiences.
– Natalie Pavilus
Thank you for speaking to us, Mr. Farrell. To start, I loved how personable you are and how story-driven your presentation was. I know you remarked on being the last speaker of the day (and how students must have been tired at that point), but I really enjoyed your presentation. It did not feel like a wall of information, but rather a glimpse into your fascinating career—accompanied by your helpful advice and stories! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us, and I hope you will consider visiting Seton Hall again soon!
– King Kamimura
Thank you for sharing your journey with Habitat for Humanity and for giving us insight into the work that happens behind the scenes to make such a meaningful impact even possible. As someone who was actively involved in Habitat for Humanity at Seton Hall this year and participated in every event I could, your presentation meant a great deal to me. Habitat helped me discover a real sense of purpose in college, so hearing your story about how you built your career with Habitat for Humanity was incredible. I especially appreciated your emphasis on sustainable cash flow, being a human “home depot”, grit over intelligence, and truly listening to understand people. Your work is changing lives in such tangible ways, and your presentation strengthened my passion for continuing to give back through service throughout my future career. Best,
– Kathryn Tomkiewicz
Thank you, Mr. Farrell, for taking the time to speak with us about leading a non-profit organization and for giving us invaluable advice to help us achieve success in the future. One thing that particularly stood out to me was your advice to, “always remember your heroes and what they have taught you”. Your dedication and work with Habitat for Humanity is truly inspiring. Thank you again for your generosity, advice, time, and encouragement!
– Bethany Giegerich
Hello Mr. Jeffery Farrell, I truly would like to thank you for attending the Business Boot Camp this year at Seton Hall’s College of Arts & Sciences to give students like myself such valuable insight in your career. I was a member of Alpha Chi Rho at Seton Hall and our fraternity’s philanthropy was actually Habitat for Humanity, so you could imagine how intrigued I was to discover that you are the current CEO of the organization! I’m currently taking a gap year before I pursue my journey into law school as an aspiring corporate attorney, and one thing I wanted to do was strengthen my reading abilities by reading books I would enjoy, rather than having a deadline for a school assignment. When I read Principles by Ray Dalio, Greenlights by Matthew McConaughey, and Atomatic Habits by James Clear, I’ll be sure to let you know what I think! Once again, thank you for taking the time to share with us, and I wish you nothing but the very best!
– Jayson M. Colon, Jr.
Hello Mr. Farrell, I want to thank you for coming and speaking to us about your work with Habitat for Humanity. Listening to you talk about how you used to work in real estate and even owned your own company before you shifted to work for Habitat was inspiring. I do volunteer work at my local greenhouse, and I often joke with the other members about getting a degree in agriculture simply for how much time I spend there. Listening to your story has inspired to take the plunge and seriously look into what I can do in order to further my experience and education. I also wanted to thank you for the books you recommended to us and I can’t wait to start reading them!
– Daniella Newball
I have one of your Re-Stores near my house, and so I know about the good that Habitat for Humanity does for not only those who are homeless but even for those of us with houses but our families still struggle with bills because of the economic climate. Your father’s story about serving in the army to be able to afford college and study law shows that despite the struggles we may face earning a degree, it is still worth it in the end. Thank you for the work you put into your presentation.
– Zahyrah Lindsay
Thank you for taking time out to speak to us. I really appreciate the journal and book recommendations, sharing your why, and your expertise. One of the many takeaways I got from your session is that time is the most important commodity, and I will remember that. I cannot wait to see you at a Habitat meeting and speak to you more about the great things you are doing for the community
– Manuela Ama Nyamekye Amoah
Thank you again for taking the time to speak with us. I truly appreciated hearing about your journey with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark and your progression from board member to CEO. What stood out to me most was your emphasis on knowing your “why” and staying grounded in purpose even while taking on greater leadership responsibilities. As someone who is also passionate about advocacy and giving back to underserved communities, I found your commitment to service and community impact incredibly inspiring. Hearing how much perseverance and grit it took to grow into the position you are in today made your story feel very genuine and motivating. It was clear how deeply you care about the people and communities you serve, and your passion for creating meaningful change really stayed with me after the session. Thank you again for sharing your experiences and insight with us. Best,
– Mia Belmar
Thank you for coming in to speak to me and the rest of the Business Bootcamp students. I really appreciate you sharing your experience with us and detailing what you have found to be the most important skills transferrable to any position, work field and applicable to every job regardless of the subject I am majoring in. You helped me grasp the true importance of grit and how it is a greater skill to have than just being intelligent, interpersonal skills such as listening and how a good leader listens well to understand the root of challenges or issues, and the significance of relationships with influential people as well as how standing strong in my faith will help me navigate difficulties. One of your last points was that time is the most important commodity that we hold. You mentioning this truly reached me as I believe it is easy to get wrapped up in being perfect, forgetting that the best time to make mistakes and take risks is now. Thank you again for coming to share your wisdom as well as for extending the invitation to celebrate 40 years of Habitat for Humanity this coming June. Best regards,
– Mya Brooks
Dear Mr. Jeffrey Farrell, thank you for taking the time to speak to my peers and me at the Seton Hall Business Boot Camp. I really appreciated learning more about your work as CEO of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newark and how your organization helps families through affordable housing, critical repairs, and programs like the ReStore. Your explanation that you see yourself as a “human Home Depot,” providing tools and solutions to help people and communities, really stood out to me. I also appreciated your advice about the importance of grit, listening, mentorship, volunteering, and not wasting time. Your visit reminded me that success is not only about building a career, but also about using your skills, relationships, and opportunities to create a meaningful impact for others.
– Sarai Amaya
I greatly appreciate you taking the time to come and speak at this year’s Boot Camp. I was fond of the activity where you asked us about who our heroes were and then shared your own answer. I think it’s very easy to lose sight of the “why” as well as who has influenced you in ways you might’ve never realized and the activity reminded me of that. My biggest takeaway was to take the risk. You never know what opportunities might open up for you and where they can take you. As someone who is hesitant on taking that extra step, it was refreshing to hear you vouch for it. Sincerely,
– Haley Seepersaud
Thank you for speaking with us about leadership, community impact, and professional growth. I appreciated hearing how your work with Habitat for Humanity combines business strategy with meaningful service to others. Your discussion about building relationships and creating opportunities for communities was both insightful and motivating. Thank you for sharing your experiences and advice with our class.
– Timothy Tadrous
Thank you for sharing your experiences, advice, and wisdom with us. Hearing your personal and professional journeys inspired us, motivated us, and gave us valuable insight into the real world of business and leadership. Your words encouraged us to think bigger, work harder, and believe in our potential.
– Lydie Alincy
Thank you for coming to speak with us and sharing your story on your suggestions for Habitat for Humanity’s greater work and the communities that you serve Essex, Hudson, and Union counties in New Jersey. Your expertise in your field was extremely evident when you were speaking about your leadership qualities and how we ourselves can become leaders, but also about the work that we could and should be doing, just as Habitat for Humanity is doing in cities in New Jersey. The experience you shared with our cohort was extremely eye-opening into what you do and extremely important. I hope you come back to boot camp and speak with more students so you can inform them about Habitat for Humanity and the good work that you and others do there, so more people are able to help.
– Adeliz Castillo
